Every year billions of coconut shells are
discarded and burned as waste.
By rescuing these shells from being burned,
we prevent harmful methane and CO2 emissions
from entering our precious environment.
What we do...
We source these coconut shells from rural coconut farms in South Vietnam, where farmers are paid for their traditionally waste product.
The shells are then handcrafted by a family of artisans, who cut the shells into size, before sanding the husk away, and finely polishing them into bowls. They are then heat treated in a kiln, which kills any bacteria and strengthens the shell.
The final step, is applying an organic coconut oil coating to the bowls. This hydrates the shell and penetrates their pores, making them strong and healthy while bringing out their natural beauty.
