Nina is the blogger behind Naturally Nina. She inspires people to live healthy and happy lives, covering topics from  nutrition and fitness to veganism and mental health! We chatted to Nina about her blog, lifestyle and inspiration...
Tell us a bit about you and your blog.
I live in Western Australia and I'm a Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine student with a passion for all things health, wellbeing and plant based nutrition. On my blog I love sharing these passions with the world through my recipes, food creations and everything else important to me in living a healthy, compassionate and fulfilling life!

When did you start blogging and why?
I started my Instagram account about 2.5 years ago after discovering my love for creating healthy recipes and how much fun it was to decorate my food and take photos. To me, it's a creative outlet!

Where do you get your recipe inspiration from?
From everywhere and anywhere! I'm horrible at following recipes and always end up changing them to suit me! I'm inspired my Mum's cooking and my childhood, other Instagram accounts, blogs, magazines and cookbooks or just from dreaming up some new ideas!

What are the biggest challenges and greatest rewards of being a food blogger?
Challenges would have to be the time, energy and effort that goes into my Instagram and blog, especially as a full-time uni student, it can be tricky. Also when the lighting is bad!
The greatest reward is the joy I get out of it and all the amazing people I've been able to connect with. I receive so many messages every day from people saying I've helped or inspired them in some way and that just means everything to me!

What are your interests outside of blogging?
I'm a really active and nature-loving gal. I love exploring, going to the beach, running, doing yoga or swimming. I also love spending time with my family and friends, travelling, cooking and baking (of course), reading...

How long have you been vegan and what inspired you?
I've been vegan for 2.5 years now! I was always a huge animal lover and was vegetarian since primary school. It was actually through social media that my eyes were opened to the vegan lifestyle and I was so inspired by everything I learnt. After watching 'Earthlings' I knew going vegan was the right choice and I made the change overnight. I've never looked back!

What’s an ingredient that you just can’t live without?
Ooh that's a tough one! But I'm going to pick cinnamon. I just love this warming, sweet spice and I add it to absolutely everything from oatmeal and smoothies to baking, curries or just sprinkled on fresh fruit. It also has some amazing antioxidant and blood-sugar balancing properties!

What’s your go-to breakfast?
At the moment, my favourite is Bircher Muesli which is just oats soaked overnight in plant milk with vanilla and chia seeds. Then I add fruit like banana, apple, berries and plenty of other toppings. So good!

You serve up some pretty delicious dishes in our Coconut Bowls! What is your favourite thing to eat out of your bowls?
Definitely smoothie bowls or nicecream! Not only do they make them look pretty but I'm convinced that smoothie bowls taste even better in a coconut bowl!

What is your favourite thing about your Coconut Bowls?
I love that they are made from recycled coconuts, meaning that they're eco-friendly, ethical, sustainable and helping reduce waste and have a positive impact on the planet. And of course, they're also gorgeous and make any food look Instagram-worthy!

Thanks Nina! Big love from Coconut Bowls

Stephanie Williams-Johnson - Vegan, What?

May 30, 2017

Stephanie is the blogger behind Vegan, What? A popular blog, Instagram and YouTube channel. She love to make yummy vegan recipes, fitness videos, and inspire others to live a 'Fan-Vegan-Tastic' life! ! We chatted to Stephanie about her recipes, inspiration and blogging...

When did you start food blogging on Instagram and what inspired you to start? I started food blogging on Instagram about 2 years ago. I was looking for a fun way to showcase all the yummy vegan food I was making, and Instagram gave me that creative outlet.

Tell us a bit about your YouTube channel? (What can we find on there, why did you start vlogging, where do you get your video ideas from?) I started my youtube channel shortly after I transitioned to a vegan lifestyle. When I first started my journey, I didn’t see many people that looked like me on youtube, so I decided to share my journey in hopes to inspire others to do the same. On my channel, you can find vegan recipes, restaurant reviews, and more.

How long have you been vegan and what inspired you?

I have been vegan for about 6 years now. My health inspired me to go vegan. I knew that I needed to make a change and I was able to find what I was looking for in Alicia Silverstone’s book The Kind Diet.

What are the biggest challenges and greatest rewards of being a food blogger?

The greatest challenge of being a food blogger is constantly coming up with new recipes. The ideas are always in my head, but it often takes them forever to come to fruition. I think the greatest reward would definitely have to be when people tell me all the health benefits they’ve received by switching to a plant-based lifestyle.

Where do you get your recipe inspiration from?

I usually draw recipe inspiration from whatever I’m craving at the moment. So, if I’m craving chocolate then I’ll think of some nice cream recipe, parfait, or even a cake if I’m really feeling creative.

Your nice-cream creations are mind blowing! What are your tips for getting the right consistency and building such incredible nice-cream mountains? My number one tip for getting the best nice cream consistency is a good food processor. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but make sure that it has really great reviews. Oh, and make sure you freeze your bananas at least 1 day before you blend them.

Your photos are always styled so nicely, what tips and tricks can you share to assist in creating such great images? My tips for creating great images are to invest in a good camera, I use a Canon 5D Mark II, but any good quality DSLR will work fine. If you don’t have a great camera, then make sure you have great lighting. I love to use natural light, so open those windows wide and let in some sunlight.

Any ingredients you can’t stand? Which one can’t you live without? When it comes to my nice cream bowls, I can’t live without powdered peanut butter. I think I use it in just about every recipe and I can’t imagine my nice cream without it. I live for that stuff!

You serve up some pretty amazing dishes in our Coconut Bowls! What has been your favourite so far?

I think my favorite dish in my coconut bowl would have to be the peanut butter banana ice cream I made. It tasted like peanut butter heaven and I scraped up every last bit of it from my coconut bowl with my wooden spoon.

What is your favourite thing about your Coconut Bowls? I love that my coconut bowls are so unique. It’s like having a specially made item that no one else has. Oh, and they’re perfect for filling with banana ice cream.

Thanks Stephanie! Big love from Coconut Bowls

Xenia Rehm- Healthy Handsome Life

May 09, 2017

Xenia is the blogger behind Healthy Handsome Life and has over 90,000 followers on her Instagram page. She is a passionate advocate for the vegan diet and inspires people to live healthier & happier lives every day! We chatted to Xenia about her lifestyle, inspiration and blogging...

Tell us a bit about you and your blog.

My name is Xenia I am 21 years old and I am from Germany. I am studying nutrition and I just love being active, being outside, animals, singing and dancing, to be creative and of course to help other people to create their dream life. I’ve been vegan for two years now and it was the best decision I’ve ever made for my health. With this lifestyle, I developed myself a lot and I learned a lot about being aware, kind in the present moment. I love to share my experiences that I made in my past with other people because I made some mistakes and I hope that other people can learn from it.

When did you start blogging and why?

I started blogging at the beginning of 2015. At first, I just wanted to create something like an online diary for myself to motivate myself to keep the vegan lifestyle and just keep me going. But my motivation changed over the time and now I don’t do it for myself but more for other people and that’s a really awesome feeling!

Where do you get your recipe inspiration from?

I have to confess that I never cook by following a recipe when I cook for myself. I never measure amounts and just take a little bit of this, a little bit of that … haha. But this is how I create my own recipes. I am highly intuitive when it comes to recipe creation and I try a lot of different things. I think Pinterest and Instagram can be a really good source for inspiration! There are a lot of accounts sharing delicious vegan food and beautiful pictures of it. But for myself, I go with my gut feeling.

What are the biggest challenges and greatest rewards of being a food blogger?

The biggest challenges are getting subscribers at the beginning. To establish your blog and social media channels and to build a reputation. For some people it’s really challenging to grow their Instagram or YouTube account. And the most important thing is not to quit. It always takes time and success doesn’t happen overnight and requires hard work and grit. Do your own thing and believe in yourself, I think this is sometimes the hardest part of it. But in the end all the nice comments, the lovely message from people that appreciate what you do and tell you how much you have helped them and how much they love what you do, it is totally worth the effort!

The greatest rewards for me personally are when people tell me that they became vegan because of my blog or social media and that I changed their life completely. That is such a great feeling to know that you helped someone to improve his or hers whole life, overall health and that they got back this thrive for living.

What are your interests outside of blogging?

I love to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I love healthy, vegan food and all kinds of outdoor activities like hiking, running, biking and swimming. I own a road bike that I would never miss again in my life! Travelling is also one of my favourite things to do. In 3 weeks I will travel to Thailand for the first time in my life and I am already so excited! I love to film YouTube videos, taking pictures, singing, dancing and caring for others and especially animals. I think I am really interested in everything where I can be creative and outside.

How long have you been vegan and what inspired you?

I am vegan for 2 years now. I was a vegetarian before because I’ve always loved animals. But then I learned more about the production of animal products like dairy or eggs and how bad they treat the animals. I think that was enough for me to go vegan. After I watched the movie “Earthlings” I decided that I will never ever eat something non-vegan again.

What would be your top tips for someone who wants to transition into a plant-based lifestyle?

The first tip would be to eat whole foods. Fruits, vegetables, grains, rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes…. And don’t make it complicated! Sure there are a lot of delicious vegan recipes out there but I think for the beginning it’s easier to eat simple meals. Choose your favourite foods and eat until you are satisfied! When you start to eat more whole foods you often have to eat more volume to be satisfied and for a lot of people that’s challenging at the beginning but your body will adapt in a few days or weeks you just have to keep going! You will love the way you feel and all the energy you will have!

What’s an ingredient that you just can’t live without?

What’s your go-to breakfast?

Fresh Fruits or oatmeal depends on the weather and temperature… hahaha.

You serve up some pretty delicious dishes in our Coconut Bowls! What is your favourite thing to eat out of your bowls?

I eat everything out of bowls! Hahaha …. I just love eating out of bowls. They are perfect for everything but I think my favourite things are banana ice cream also called “nice cream”, oatmeal or muesli.

What is your favourite thing about your Coconut Bowls?

They are just beautiful, they look really pretty on pictures and I just love the material. My favourite one is the natural coconut bowl because I love the raw material on the outside!
